to the Avenue Road Medical Practice. We have been providing comprehensive medical care in this community for over 20 years. We offer you and your family personal care and commitment in a traditional General Practice environment using the most modern diagnostic equipment and treatment. We also provide emergency service, housecalls and continuity of care. Our practice is not owned any corporation or outside party. By phoning

Opening Hours

Monday - Friday 8:00am to 6:00 pm Saturday 8:00am to 12:00noon Sunday and outside these times by calling 9968 2222 (Emergency calls will be answered by one of our doctors in person, or you will be directed to one of our mobile phones.

After - Hours

One of our doctors is available at all times if you have an urgent medical problem. Always call our practice number:

This will be answered by Dr. Quittner or you will be directed to the Doctor on call. This service is ONLY available to our REGULAR patients.

Parking

Parking is readily available close to the surgery. There is a bus stop outside the surgery. The bus connects with a ferry to the city at the bottom of Avenue Road. There is a taxi rank in Avenue Road 250m from the surgery.

Appointments

Dr. Quittner works full time and is available each day. One of our lady docotors: Dr. Kitchener-Smith or Dr. Bambi Markus will be at the surgery every day also. Our receptionists Liz and Cindy can advise you of each doctor's available appointments. You may care to see another doctor on our staff if your regular GP is unavailable.

WE DON'T LIKE TO KEEP YOU WAITING

Occasionally your Doctor may run late due to an emergency or a patient needing a longer consultation than expected.. So when you make your appointment please mention to the receptionist if you need longer than 15 minutes. (This is generally the case if you have several problems or a complicated medical (condition).Please let us know if you are running late or anable to attend a booked appointment. We require at least 2 hours notice of cancellation or you may be liable to pay for the time you have booked.

If you feel you have an urgent problem, please telephone us immediately on 9968 2222 or just come directly to the practice during surgery hours.

New Patients

We welcome new patients to the practice and appreciate any kind referrals from existing patients to our practice.

Babies and Children

We are very experienced in caring for little patients who are unwell. Our young patients usually look forward to their next visit. We have a waiting area for children with toys and books for their enjoyment. Baby change facilities are provided for your convenience.

Housecalls

We are happy to see patients at home if they are too ill to attend the surgery. Home visits are available ONLY for our regular patients. We offer this service within 5Km from our office. Nursing Home and Hospital visits are also provided.

Fees

We ask that you pay at the time of consultation. If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to ask your Doctor. Reduced fees may be offered for follow-up consultations, sibling appointments, pensioners and regular patients facing financial difficulties. Our fee for a standard consultation in 2008 is $75. If you have several problems or a complex consultation which requires more than 15 minutes, our fees range from $150. As an approximate guide, the fee for house calls is double the cost of consultation in our office. The fee for service outside office hours is double the cost of service during regular hours. There are additional charges for travel outside Mosman and for service after 10pm and before 7am. Please enquire about the cost of other specific services such as insurance medicals and SCUBA Dving examinations etc.

Payment

We accept payment by EFTPOS, Visa or Master card and cash. We can assist you with completion of Medicare claims. Vaccination rebates may be claimed from your private health insurer.

Telephone Calls

Urgent calls will always be put through to your doctor. Our reception staff are trained to assist you with most enquiries including advising you of pathology reports, X ray reports etc. consultations. Telephone consultations are available for a fee and your file will be automatically updated. You may call for test results between 12-2pm (Mon-Fri). Please note, there is a fee for ALL CALLS made to doctors outside office hours.

Specialist Referrals and Scripts

It is important for you to be reviewed regularly if you are taking medication. Your Doctor normally needs to see you before writing a prescription or referring you to a specialist. Please note: Medical certificates are legal documents which cannot be backdated. It is also illegal to backdate a referral letter.

e-mail advice

As a new service we offer advice by e-mail. Of course this does not replace personal face to face consultations. Your doctor will advise the best course of action. Our patients find this service most helpful when they are travelling away from Sydney. There is a fee for this service payable by credit card.
